Located landside at the main entrance to London Luton Airport’s terminal, The Fletton is designed as a welcoming meeting place for travellers before departure or upon arrival. The concept draws on the region’s industrial heritage, celebrating Bedfordshire’s rich brick-making history and the iconic Fletton brick. Archival photography, sourced from Forterra, formerly the London Brick Company, is displayed throughout the bar, grounding the space in its local narrative.

The brief challenged us to creatively repurpose a surplus of stockpiled materials — including tiles, lighting and furniture from The Restaurant Group’s previously procured specifications. This approach embedded circularity into the design process while delivering an open, accessible and durable environment suited to a high-traffic airport setting, allowing travellers to gather, pause and connect with ease.
