Winner of a RIBA East London Award from the Royal Institute of British Architects, the NLA Conservation & Retrofit Award from New London Architecture, and a Civic Trust Commendation from the Civic Trust, and shortlisted for the AJ Retrofit Awards by the Architects' Journal and the Dezeen Awards from Dezeen in 2018, the restoration of Hackney Town Hall stands as a benchmark project in civic conservation and adaptive reuse.
Delivered over a 12-year programme of careful refurbishment, the project revitalised this landmark building through a considered balance of heritage restoration and contemporary intervention. Working in close collaboration with Hawkins\Brown, the scheme reimagined the town hall as a dynamic public destination, restoring significant historic interiors while introducing modern infrastructure, improved accessibility and renewed civic spaces designed to support community, culture and everyday public life.
