1 & 3 SOUTH BROOK STREET, AIRE PARK

Nicknamed “Rowdy ROBATA” by The Telegraph, this lively izakaya-style restaurant in Soho has become one of London’s most celebrated destinations for authentic Japanese dining. Inspired by the informal drinking and dining culture of traditional Japanese robatayaki restaurants, ROBATA blends high-energy social spaces with a carefully considered design language that reflects both contemporary Tokyo and classic Japanese craft.

We delivered a comprehensive, end-to-end design service, from brand creation and concept development through to spatial planning, detailing and on-site project management. Every element of the interior was carefully curated to capture the spirit of a modern Japanese izakaya, balancing atmosphere, functionality and authenticity, and creating a vibrant, immersive experience for guests from arrival through to late evening dining. We also created the full brand as well as the custom artworks added throughout the interior, giving the space a clear, distinctive identity.

Following the success of ROBATA, turnerbates collaborated once again with founder and restaurateur Sonny Huang to design EDO IZAKAYA on Old Street, building on the established vision while evolving the concept for a new setting and audience.
