Celebrate the end of the year with turnerbates’ Twelve Days of Christmas! On the first day of Christmas team TB gave to me…
1. One new Lounge in Vilnius City
2023 has seen our third Lounge open for international real estate agent Vastint. Our newest Lounge is the second one that we have designed in Vilnius, found in the heart of the city. The new space features a private meeting room, break areas, co-working desks, and a galley kitchen, making it the perfect multifunctional space for working and socialising.
The TB team are currently working on designs for three new lounges across Europe in London, Brussels and Wroclaw. We look forward to giving you more updates on these projects in the coming year!
2. Two new BEARs
This year, not one, but two new turnerbates-designed BEAR branches opened their doors. The new coffee, drinks and dining spots in Ashbourne and Nottingham have been breaking records, making the largest sales weeks in BEAR history! We’re excited to have been part of BEAR’s exciting expansion plans and we are very happy to see that both of them have been an amazing success.
3. Three Est’s turn to one in new restaurant rebrand
As part of our 10-year-strong relationship with The Restaurant Group, turnerbates was asked to create a new, open and contemporary design for Est Est Est Italian, the popular bar and restaurant in the heart of Manchester’s Trafford Centre. After a complete transformation from the turnerbates team (and changing the name to a singular ‘Est’), the 170-cover restaurant opened again with its updated brand identity and a Mediterranean harbour-influenced design.
4. Four new Sugar House Island lobbies
Sugar House Island is a rapidly growing community for residents, locals and office workers in East London. We’re delighted to have had the opportunity to create and deliver four different entrance lobbies within the 20,000 square metres of lettable space.
Sugar House Island will soon be home to a new Lounge space, currently being designed by the turnerbates team. Stay tuned to see how this develops…
5. Five Guys
Earlier this year, we announced that turnerbates was now working with the American-inspired restaurant chain Five Guys. Since breaking the news, two new Five Guys stores have opened their doors to the hungry public.
As we go into the new year, watch this space for more Five Guys opening across the country. We’re very excited to develop our relationship with the popular burger chain – bring on 2024!
6. Six trips to Amsterdam (so far)
Last year we were appointed as part of the design team for the strategic planning for the functions of the iconic Leeuwenburg building in Amsterdam. We look forward to continuing to work with Vastint Netherlands, ZZDP Architects and Moss Landscape Architects on this exciting project throughout 2024.
7. Open 7 Days a Week – Head to EDO IZAKAYA for your next meal
This year, we were excited to continue working with restauranteur Sonny Huang. After the success of Robata, we were once again asked to design the concept, detailed interior design, brand, logo, and menu creation for his second restaurant EDO IZAKAYA. EDO reflects the relaxed culture of Japanese izakaya style dining – if you’re searching for a new dining spot in the new year, then look no further!
8. Nearly 800 miles to Marseille
In 2024, turnerbates is excited to continue working on the strategic development of Vallée Vert in Marseille, France. The team are working on the redevelopment of an old coffee and chocolate factory, known as the Bourbon Building, and its two lobby areas.
We are also in the process of designing a new flexible and bookable conference space and onsite restaurant within the adjacent Peaberry building.
9. Nine…hundred square metre office refurbishment
We are excited to share that work has started on site for a 900m2 office refurbishment that turnerbates carried out for in independent entrepreneurial asset management firm in Luxembourg. We’re extremely excited to see the finished space – the team designed two floors of flexible workspace that responds to the new post-Covid work environment.
10. Ten ‘Leeds’-a-leaping at Aire Park
This year, Vastint UK’s Aire Park in Leeds entered it’s second phase of development. Going into 2024, we’re excited to work with the Vastint team to develop the project further.
11. Celebrating 11 years of turnerbates
This year, turnerbates Design & Architecture turned 11 years old. Throughout 2023, our team has grown to 18 people, all of which have a passion for creating amazing spaces. Full of amazing personal and workplace achievements, 2023 has been one for the TB history books. Bring on the next 11 years!
12. Twelve floors of office and commercial space in the Magdalena Quarter’s new development
Riga’s Magdalena Quarter was bustling with activity this year, and we look forward to this continuing in 2024! The concrete structure is currently being built on site for Vastint Latvia’s A3 and O1 office buildings. In 2020, turnerbates completed the concept and detailed design of the two lobby spaces for these buildings, so we’re excited to see this project progress further in 2024!
We’d like to give a massive thank you to all of our clients, project colleagues, and collaborators who have helped make 2023 a great year for turnerbates. We look forward to all that 2024 will bring for the TB team!
