An exciting week for BEAR Coffee Company! Not only have BEAR opened their newest space this month, designed by turnerbates, in Derby’s intu centre (the 5th site to date!), but they have also won the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2019 Derby Food & Drink Awards.
”Founded in 2014, BEAR first became bricks and mortar at the site of a once iconic retail store at the top of Uttoxeter High Street, and opened to the public in January 2016.
The business took a big step forward when the two co-founders - Craig Buntin and Michael Thorley - decided to bring their concept to Derby – the city where they both shopped and skateboarded as kids.
The beautifully restored site on Iron Gate opened in December 2017. By late 2018 there was no looking back, as the team opened a third store in Stone, followed less than six months later by a partnership with leading fashion brand Jack Wills, at their flagship store in Soho.
Today marks another significant step for our winner, as they open a fifth store at Derby’s very own Intu centre. We are privileged to sponsor this award, and we are delighted to recognise the hard work, innovation and commitment to Derby shown by the team at BEAR.
The success and continuous organic business growth is testament to how well the team are thought of and respected by the people of the city and the wider community.
